Alleged drug lord 'Dragon', wife gunned down in Caticlan

MANILA - Alleged drug lord Melvin "Dragon" Odicta and his wife were shot dead by unidentified men in Caticlan port early Monday.

The Odictas had just alighted from a roll-on roll-off vessel at around 1:30 a.m. when the gunmen hailed bullets on them, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said.

The couple was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

Odicta and his wife met with Interior Secretary Mike Sueño on Thursday to deny their alleged involvement with the narcotics trade in Iloilo province.

During the meeting at Camp Crame in Quezon City, the couple also submitted their version of a “drug matrix” involving lawmakers and local officials.

The Odictas, Sueño said, went to Manila because they felt threatened in Iloilo.

“Marami daw pumupunta sa kanila na nananakot…baka mapapatay kayo,” said Sueno.

“They are fearing for their lives, so they went to the Regional Director [of the Philippine National Police], who told them to present themselves to [PNP Director General Ronald] Dela Rosa.”
